The role of the Ohio Affiliate of Prevent Blindness is to link donated eye care to all Ohioans in need. The retail value of the donated products and services provided by the vision care community to prevent blindness tops $2 million annually. Each year we help over 5,000 adults and children to access donated eye care services. To help Ohioans in need without the means to get an eye exam or glasses, the Ohio Affiliate of Prevent Blindness partners with a statewide network of volunteer eye doctors and optical companies. The Vision Care Outreach program provides this targeted population with eye care services they desperately need, but are not able to access due to a lack of insurance or other vision benefits. > Learn more.The goal of the Vision Care Outreach Program is to reduce the incidence of unnecessary vision loss and impairment by providing access to a donated system of comprehensive vision care services for uninsured or underinsured adults and children in Ohio. If you’re eligible and want to enroll in a FEDVIP vision plan, you need to take action during a Qualifying Life Event (QLE) or during the next TRICARE Open Season in Fall 2023. You may be eligible for vision coverage through the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP). If you or your sponsor are in the National Guard or Reserves, your coverage depends on both your status and your plan.If you have TRICARE Select, TRICARE Young Adult Select, or TRICARE For Life, routine eye exams are not covered. ![]() Contact your provider to determine whether your exam is covered. ![]()
